Love that Mid-Century Modern!

Design in the 1950s and 60s was hip and cool then, and it still is today. See what there was to admire in home design from the early “Boomer” era at the Mid-Century Modern Tour of Homes in Athens, Saturday, Oct. 7, 10:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Part of the year-long 50th anniversary of the Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation, the tour will feature six homes in the Five Points, Beechwood and Glenwood neighborhoods, and afterward, cocktails at a seventh.  The tour is self-guided during the day with an evening reception from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

The Athens Symphony celebrates 40 years of making great music with an all-volunteer orchestra.  Always free but always professional, the orchestra’s Fall Concert will be held on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. Pick up your free tickets at the Classic Center box office two weeks prior.

Five Polling Location Changes

If you’re planning to vote in the Nov. 7 election in Athens, be aware that five sites have changed. If you voted previously at either East Athens Baptist Church, Barnett Shoals Elementary School, the Board of Education, Timothy Baptist Church, or Oglethorpe Elementary School, look for a new voter registration card in the mail; or call the Board of Elections at 706.613.3150 or refer to the Ga. Secretary of State’s website and “My Voter Page.”
