Arts in Bloom

The Steffen Thomas Museum of Art in the Buckhead community will be exhibiting quilts and floral arrangements inspired by the art of Thomas, an award-winning and prolific artist. From April 11 to May 25, the museum will have a full schedule of events that includes quilting lectures, cooking demonstrations with edible flowers, trunk shows, and floral demonstrations. Athens Symphony Pops Concert

The music of Johnny Mercer, Victor Young and Duke Ellington are just some of the highlights of the upcoming Pops Concert in the Classic Center’s Grand Hall on May 3 and 4, at 8 p.m. The program also features singer Roy Martin with the Jim McKillip Trio and Heather Pillsbury, an award-winning vocalist. Admission is always free, but tickets are required, and available at the Classic Center Box Office two weeks before a concert date. For more information: www.athenssymphony.org

Women’s Choral Music

The Meridian Women’s Chorus will present a free concert on Saturday, May 11 at 4 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2535 Jefferson Road. The group was formed in 2002 to develop the choral skills of women, and to offer quality performances. For more information, email bethanfinson@gmail.com.

Carol Burnett Sketches

ACTThe Athens Creative Theatre (ACT) presents its Reader’s Theatre for adults and seniors with a wonderful collection of Carol Burnett sketches and skits on May 10-12 in Quinn Hall at Memorial Park. For more information, call 706-613-3628.
