Mark your calendar for the first Sunday of every month when the Athens library on Baxter presents free concerts in Appleton Auditorium. Singer Sylvia Rose Novak performs on Sunday, Nov. 4, 3 p.m. Then it’s the Green Flag Band on Sunday, Dec. 2 with a seasonal program of Celtic-inspired traditional and contemporary folk music.

Athens Heritage Walks

The Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation kicks off the 10thseason of weekly walking tours of Athens neighborhoods, cemeteries and other historic sites. They are free, but for more information and to register, go to www.achfonline.org/heritagewalks.org.

Showcase of Homes at Lake Oconee

Explore some of the fabulous homes in Reynolds Lake Oconee on Saturday, Nov. 3, in a self-guided tour to benefit Greene County Habitat for Humanity. The goal is to raise enough to over the building of one home for a Greene County family. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at www.habitathomesforhope.org.

Coffee with a Vet

Every Tuesday at 9 a.m. the Winterville Center for Community and Culture hosts an informal gathering of veterans. Other calendar offerings range from various exercise and dance classes to painting, writing and chess instruction. For the full calendar, visit www.wintervillecenter.com.

Au Coeur de Mai 68

In May 1968, Parisian students marched in protests that quickly spread throughout France. The country came to a near-standstill 50 years ago.  A traveling exhibit of 43 previously unseen photos by the late French photographer Philippe Gras will be on display at the Circle Gallery in the College of Environment and Design on Jackson St. from Oct. 19 to Nov. 16.

Spotlight on the Arts

The first two weeks in November are filled with plays, music, lectures, exhibits, dance, and a wide variety of special events to celebrate the arts at UGA. There’s too much to list here but go to www.arts.uga.edu/spotlightuga2018/for a complete listing of the schedule.

Heritage Days Fall Festival

The State Botanical Garden celebrates horticultural and agricultural history on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with crafts, stories, music, and educational classes, as well as the ever-popular leaf pile and apple cider press. Details at www.botgarden.uga.edu.
